I've never been through a break-up. I've manage to avoid getting my heart broken by dodging a lot of bullets. Although I don't know what it's like to have a boyfriend break my heart, I have had friends and family members tear my heart to pieces. Maybe that's my heartbreak. Either way, there are rarely songs written about a friendship that ended or a family members to leave you.

 If I ever fall in love with a guy and the relationship is really strong, but then suddenly he leaves me, I've prepared the perfect songs to listen to while I'm going through the break-up. Some say Adele or Sam Smith are the ideal artists to listen to during a heartbreak, and I agree, but no singer can really release the hurt and anger of a heartbreak quite like Miami rapper Trina. How do I even start? Trina is everything! She is the go to artist who says exactly how you feel when you're going through a heartbreak. She sounds angry in her songs, but that's what so special about her music, her anger is our anger.  I put together a playlist of Trina's songs that will help me in the future if I ever go through a heartbreak.

Separation is good for the soul

You always see those couples who look like they're attached at the hip and can't breathe without each other. It's all cute when you do see them-until they're both glued to the phones during an girl/guys only event. Spend sometime alone or with friends to keep up your other relationships and keep things in perspective. Let each other breathe! You'll be able to reconnect with your friends, family, and spend time doing what you enjoy doing.

Get a hobby

Find something that you truly enjoy and makes you happy, even if he's not into it. Try photography, or rock climbing, or even sewing. Something to help you find your own strengths and take pride in.

Know where you stand

This can mean knowing your boundaries when it comes to sex or even knowing that you don't like World of War Craft. Don't change yourself or your opinions to align more with his beliefs.

When I was in the fifth grade a group of girls told me a cool way to discover if a guy likes you back. The best part, I didn't have to asked the guy. All I needed to know was his first and last name. To this very day, I play this silly game to find out my "fate" with a crush. Unfortunately the results never ruled in my favor.  It's  a pretty fun game to play. I don't always believe the results, but sometimes I believe I'm doomed either ways. I thought it would be cool if I tell you the silly little elementary game I've been playing. Some of you may know the game.  

Thirst sign: Going to the Extremes for a stranger

You'll never forget your first crush. It's was fourth grade, and I was new to the school. I don't remember how I fell for him, but I did. He was smart, tall, and cute. All the girls liked him, and I couldn't help but like him too. The one thing that was different about him than my later crushes was I actually talk to him. We've never held long conversations, but we talked.

You already know surviving a Long Distance  Relationship is possible as long as both people are eventually willing to make it work. But just because it can work doesn't mean that it's not frustrating to keep up. There are always people around you that  make your relationship worse than it is. Then trying to spend time together are just a few of the many frustrations I've had with my LDR. I talked with The BF last night and we started listing the things about LDRs that we both hated.

The Distance
Duh! Of course this is the most annoying part of any LDR. You don't get to see your other half when you want to Without some serious planning.

"Shannah, go talk to that guy over there." Tiffany* said as she was eating her extra greasy cheese pizza. I looked at the guy and noticed the black and red bow tie that complemented his outfit. Of course, I couldn't approach a random guy in the school's dining hall. I assumed he would label me as a thirsty, desperate girl. "I like his bow tie," I said to my friends in a nonchalant voice, as I sipped on an icy cold water. "Then go tell him," Tiffany insisted. "No, I can't," I replied with panic in my voice. "Then I will." Tiffany said walking towards the guy. Everyone at the table started to laugh as Tiffany moved towards his direction.

Usually, I steer away from posting about my personal life, but  I think I'm willing to take the risk. I recently met this guy who I will call Shy Boy.*  Shy Boy is cute, average height, and nice. I met him through a friend, and I was so happy that she invited him to dinner one day.

I really do love being single. Waking up in my twin bed early every morning to the cold air conditioned room, and to see one person beside me. That one person is no one other than my roommate, who sleeps in her own twin bed. I begin each day listening to "Treasure" by Bruno Mars.  Oh! It's no wonder I'm still single, indeed. I like my own space, I can get "ugly" whenever I want. Not one guy can see those moments. Let's enjoy these moment shall we.

Men. You can't live with them, you can't live without them. Now that I'm fresh out of my teen years, I've had a few guys who've liked me in college, but it never goes far. However, I have had much older men approach me from ages thirty to probably forty.

The MTV reality show Catfish has become one of my favorite shows. The series gives people the chance to meet the real person they have been dating online for the first time in, and usually the person they meet is far from what they expected. The show has changed the way that people have looked at online dating making them thing twice before adding random people on Facebook. Of course some of the stories seem far stretched and avoidable (like being engaged with someone you never met) but the crazy thing is, it could happen to anyone. Even you. After watching the show, and using this thing called common sense, we've piled together a fool proof way to see if your dream guy is as real as he says he is.

1. You're dating a model

Looks can be deceiving, and online it's easy to steal anyone's picture and use it to be your own. So when that Brad Pitt look-a-like friends you on Facebook, it's okay to be skeptical. If you want to weed out a fake is to search their profile pictures on Google Images. If no other images are found, then you may be in the clear. If not, then you may be getting reeled in by a fake.

2. Can never meet

Is your dream guy always dropping out of dates and cancelling meetups?  If he's always cancelling or something comes up, ask him what's up. Is he really busy, or is he hiding something from you?

Last night BET aired its original movie  Being Mary Jane, starring Gabrielle Union. The film follows television host Mary Jane Paul, a woman who has the looks, the job, the house, but is still looking for love.  In the first scenes of the film we find out that Jane's lover is hiding a secret from her -he's married. In a seat clinching scene Mary Jane sees her lover's wife going into a pet shop and has the spontaneous idea to go follow her inside and reveal the secret that her husband has been hiding. But, things didn't go the way that she or anyone else expected.

I was happy for Jenna after the second season of Awkward. She finally got the boy she fell in love with, Matty. For those of you that are unfamiliar with their relationship here's a recap.

Sometimes what we need and what we want can cause inner conflicts in our hearts. Many of us want a boyfriend or girlfriend, but are unsure if we need it. If you're single the advice you've heard too many times is to wait and your true love will find you. Waiting is the hardest thing to do because many of us grow impatient. It's like standing in a long line waiting to find the love of our life at the end, but some of us tend to stop waiting and walk away. Once we walk away, we may settle for what's in front of us. If that someone in front of us appears  nice, sweet, and thoughtful we may give them a chance. However, when their bad qualities start appearing we may turn away thinking how naive we were and become a bit scared to open our hearts again to someone new. Some of us may even become a bit jealous when we see other couples together or our friends finding love.  What to do when you're feeling a bit blue about being single?

Every girl wants a Prince Charming in her life, and finding the right guy can sometimes mean going through many, many frogs. Yet, there are some ladies who are so desperate for a relationship they make themselves believe they've found Mr. Right when their guy is Mr. Wrong.
