Sam Smith is one of my favorite artists at the moment. I'm sad that his popularity is growing because I want to keep his genius to myself. I know I sound pretty selfish, but I think I deserve some brownie points for promoting him before he became known in America. His song "I'm Not the Only One" has so much soul in it. Maybe I've been watching the James Brown movie trailer too much, but that kind of soul goes in the Mr. Brown hall of fame. I swear I can see Beyonce' or Mary J. Blidge singing this song. Especially Sasha Fierce Beyonce. I really like the chorus of the song the most. Enjoy it for yourself.
Happy Friday folks! I thought since it's Friday, and we're all happy for the weekend that I will do a music review of Hyuna's "Red." I'm not a fan of the song, but the video is a standout. I got to give it to Hyuna, she may have Popsicle songs, but her music videos are legendary. She always knows how to make a music video that keeps us talking. Side note* I want to to applaud her for improving her live performances. She seems more confident on stage then ever!
There 's another song that could be a summer anthem for some folks and that is Girl's Day "Darling." It's strange how the summer songs are coming out of no where in Korea. The video is bright and colorful much like Sistar's "Touch My Body." The big difference between the songs are Girl's Day 60's style music video. Although their clothes scream 60's, I really like their clothing. The video also takes me back to Secret's "Shy Boy" music video because of the 60's style. The song is a pretty decent as well. It will take a while for me to really enjoy it, but I think a will. Only time will tell. Until then judge the song yourself and tell me what you think in the comment section.
When I first discovered Jessie Ware I wanted to blog about her instantly. The only problem, her song "Wildest Moments" was too old to do a blog spotlight on. So I had to wait patiently until she release newer music to talk about her awesomeness. Although I did feel special when I heard "Wildest Moments" play on Iyanla Fix My Life commercial and on Being Mary Jane. "Tough Love" is a sweet tune. I'm glad that she's sticking with the R&B sound because it really suits her. Jessie Ware will take you back to Sade. In fact I remember reading a comment saying she sounds like Sade 2.0. The beat of the song reminds me of a Prince 80's music production. The song will be feature on her sophomore album Tough Love.
Tell me your thoughts of the song in the comment section
I'm having a really hard time finding the one song to jam to all summer long. Last year my summer anthem was Disclosure ft Sam Smith "Latch." This summer I haven't been listening to music that much. If I had to pick a song that I enjoy this summer it would be Spica's "You Don't Love Me."
Last Year's Summer Anthem
I like the song a lot, but the only problem is it doesn't scream summer anthem. The song describes my love life though. No matter how much I try to impress a guy, he still doesn't like me. Another song that could be perfect for the summer is 4 minute's "Is It Poppin." The song is great, but I think it was more of a summer jam for last year. Even though I still listen to it now.

My road to becoming a K-Pop (Korean Pop music) fan has been a long journey. If you would have told me 4 years ago that I would love K-pop music I would have laughed in disbelief.
I did have friends that listened to K-pop and J-Pop (Japanese Pop) music, which I thought was weird. I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea of listening to music not spoken in my native language. One day, a classmate from Thailand told me about a Thai artist named Punch. I thought about given it a try, because it wasn't K-pop, and I thought Thai music would be different. The song was a sad love song. The video was heartbreaking. In the video Punch's boyfriend cheats on her with her co- worker. I wish I could find the English translation of the video, but I can't. Maybe you will like it as much as I did.
What the hell was this?

The Internet -DontCha
The first time I heard Syd the Kyd sing, I wasn't too thrilled. She had a nice voice, yea. But there was nothing that really brought me into her music oto stick with it. Now she's apart of The Internet and their song "DontCha" is just what I needed to want more from her. I love the flow, the lyrics, and her voice is perfect for a song like this. I know it's kind of old, but if you haven't heard of this song, you will love it.2ne1 finally released their second full length album Crush. It's been three years since their last full length album and I think every 2ne1 fan jump for joy when the album dropped. I will admit that I was disappointed when I heard Crush. I just didn't see a hit song from the album. The title track "Crush" was okay, but it's nothing compared to their smash hit "I am the Best."
I've written about Jade Novah before, and I really love her music and her work. One of the things I was really looking forward from her this season was her Christmas medley. Last year, the singer created a similar Christmas mashup that was featured in one of her videos. This time, Jade adds her talent to create a medley of Chrsitmas classics like Jingle Bell Rock, Hark! the Harold Angels Sing, and more. Check it our for yourself and be sure to download the single for free!

Sky Ferreira (left) and G-Dragon (Right) |
I will always prefer G-Dragon's slow songs over his up-tempo dance music. So I'm shocked and happy that G-Dragon teamed up with Sky Ferreira to release the song "Black". They are two of my favorite people. Right now the song is on repeat. Sky does a wonderful job in the chorus of the song, she is so freaking amazing!
You may remember Jade Novah as the actress behind Keyonce Knowles or even for her amazing cover of Rihanna's "Diamonds". Now instead of imitating celebs or covering a song, fans are getting a different shade of Jade with the release of her new original single "Show Out". The single is just the first taste of what you can expect from Novah's upcoming debut album. "Show out" is about being able to take the stage and show the people what you've got. Take a look at Jade Novah in her newest video and if you love it, download the single on iTunes!
What do you think of the song?
If I weren't just getting home, I would have posted this hours ago. 2NE1 has released the video to their new single "Do You Love Me". If didn't get it the first time, I'll say it again. I LOVE this song! Everything about this is just so right. The ladies of 2NE1 also took a different approach with this song that I really like. The girls look like they're just having fun with their friends and I'm loving the filter they shot with. The choreography for this song is great as well. Check out both the music video and their live performance below.
I'm really liking the British singer Sam Smith. When I close my eyes and listen to "Safe With Me", I am transported to a happier R&B world. I imagine myself driving late at night on a road trip to a place unknown. Sam Smith sings with a little soul. When I listen closely, I think I'm hearing John Legend's voice with a small British accent. I think Sam has a lot of potential in the R&B music world. After hearing the song, I decided to research him and discovered that he is a 90s baby. That's right, Sam is one year older than me. For some reason, knowing that he was born in the 90s makes me like him even more because I thought he was in his late 20s or early 30s. If you are hesitant of listening to him, think of Sam as a mixture of John Legend, Adele, Miguel, and a little of Frank Ocean.
When I began listening to K-Pop, 2ne1 was my favorite girl group. I eventually started liking other groups as well. One group that I stumbled upon was Brown Eyed Girls. I really started listening to them after Psy's video "Gentleman" because Ga-in, one of the members, appeared in the video. One song that I'm still loving from them is "Abracadabra." I have been eagerly waiting for their comeback single after listening to their older music. "Recipe" is their newest single, and Miryo's rapping in the song is amazing! Her voice is like no other. The beat to the song is very smooth and sounds similar to a 70s disco hit with a modern twist. After reading the English lyrics to the song, I think the song is about a woman pleasing a man. Think of it as a Destiny's Child "Cater 2 You" type of song. I also believe the song is about allowing a man to open up more and the only way of doing this is by showing love and catering to him. I posted a video with the English lyrics to see your take of the song's meaning.

I'm shocked that 4minute is still a group. Hyuna has been on her own lately, and I thought the group may have disbanded. But the group is still together and getting ready to bring us more music. Their latest video teaser ,"Is It Poppin?", sounds pretty good.
